The One Thing I Love About Hardee's

What do I love about Hardee's? Their ads tell it like it is.

I give Hardee's a thumbs up for being proactive in telling the American public what to expect when you walk through the doors. When you watch Hardee's advertising, what do you see? It's people, usually guys, eating monster burgers, loaded breakfast sandwiches or fries dripping with chili and cheese.

In one television ad, one guy asks the other something like, "Are you going to eat your cheese paper?" Only in a Hardee's ad will the actor eat cheese that dripped from the food to the packaging.

Every other fast food chain is promoting its healthier offerings: salads, wraps, light desserts, etc. But, not Hardee's. Why? Simply because they can't. You cannot order a salad (unless you count the lettuce and tomato on the sandwich). You want something low-cal? Well, Hardee's does sell a burger with only 350 calories and a fat content of 35%—it's the closest you will get to healthy. And desserts start at 55g of sugar.

So, I applaud Hardee's for taking a stand against starvation by feeding the hungry—the really, really hungry.  If you have no concerns or cares for calories, curves or cardiovascular function, then enjoy all you like. But, if you are doing your best to eat sensibly, stay slim or protect your health then do not even walk in the door. (Or if that is too harsh then just go on your birthday.)

In December, Hardee's ran a promotion to see who could create the best television ad for their new miniature burger. (It's little because only 360 calories come from fat and it only has a tad over 1,100mg of sodium.) I used to sell advertising, so I have written my share of ads. The picture below is what I came up with, but I did not submit because my wife thought I would probably lose.

See for yourself...what do you think?
